King Lear Summary   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The play, â€Å"King Lear† by William Shakespeare, starts with noblemen Kent and Gloucester having a conversation and the audience finds out that Gloucester has two sons. Edgar who is his heir, and Edmund his unimportant son. This info. leads to the mini-plot. Then, Lear enters to say that he is going to end his life’s tasks and problems. He then points to the map, he tells the people there that he will split his land into three parts. They are going to be given to his three daughters. The two oldest, Goneril and Regan, tell their father that their love for him goes beyond expectations. The youngest one, Cordelia, tells him that she loves him, but only as she should love her father. He is then angered and disappointed at the lack of love by her. Then splits his land evenly between Goneril and Regan, and then banishes Cordelia. Then France decides to marry the now banished Cordelia. When Kent tries to defend Cordelia, he banishes him too.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Meanwhile, Goneril and Regan decide that if Lear becomes too much of a nuisance, they will have to decide what disciplinary actions to take. In the developing subplot, Edmund complains of his unhappiness at being an illegitimate—and thus, disinherited—son. As part of his plot to claim what is not his, Edmund gives a false letter to his father, Gloucester, declaring that Edgar is proposing that they kill their father and split the wealth between them. Latino Culture Essay

Latino culture has many different traditions that contribute to literature by Hispanic writers but the importance of family is one of the most important to Latinos. Many of these other traditions include religion and gender roles. Family life also can affect the way children can develop and how they do in school. And all of this contributes significantly in Hispanic literature. Familismo is the term used by Latin Americans for the close connection that is maintained within the family. They believe family should come first before all individual needs. This can be a good and bad thing. It is obviously good because there is a special bond made within the family that is very hard to break. It could be bad though because your family may be holding you back from your full potential and by giving up your individual goals. In the Latino Family, men and women have dignified roles that differ from different ethnicities. Machismo is a term used for Latino men and it refers to a man’s responsibility to protect, serve, and defend his family. Men are the leader in the Latino household and whatever he says goes. Marianismo is the term used for Latina women. They are encouraged to strive to be like Virgin Mary and try to be â€Å"spiritually strong, morally superior, nurturing, and self-sacrificing†. The family to Latino Americans is an essential piece of their culture that they would do anything for.

Introduction Observing a child will increase the knowledge on how child react in different situations; also, comparing to other cases, there might be some similarities, but there must be differences. In these observations, we are focused on the social relationships, reactions, language, and emotion. Based on what we have learned in the class, I know children a bit more than usual. Some children might be more mature than their ages, but some children might not be on their ages yet. For example, asking children to solve the same problem that some children can finish it very quick, but some of them finish it slower or cannot finish it at all. I have done several observations before using running record, time sampling, and other observation system. Even though case studies provide child development major students a lot of examples, it cannot be sure that every child will act the same way. From the previous experiences, the child I observed was active and had good social relationships wit h her peers and teachers. She gave me a feeling like she was not only five years old. Based on we could not talk to the child while observing that prevent us to get more information we needed. Collecting data from the target child is only from what we saw and what we heard that made me not able to get the information which was on the assignment sheets.
